Here\u2019s our guide on how to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Note: We have a very comprehensive guide on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.logcabinssouthwest.co.uk\/how-build-single-skin-log-cabin\">how to build a log cabin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Resources required<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s best to have a friend help you to build your cabin. &nbsp;That extra pair of hands really helps with the doors and windows, and that friend really comes in handy when your reflect on your hard work with a cup of tea.<\/p>\n<h2>Recommended tools<\/h2>\n<p>You don\u2019t need many tools to assemble your cabin, but we recommend these<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electric screwdriver ( 2 ideally, one for your friend )<\/li>\n<li>Hammer and an off cut of timber &#8211; for taping timbers into place.<\/li>\n<li>Saw &#8211; for trimming the last floorboard<\/li>\n<li>Utility knife &#8211; for cutting trim<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The base<\/h2>\n<p>You need a solid base to build your log cabin on. &nbsp;We recommend a timber frame of treated wood. &nbsp;If you have the space, time and skills to make a concrete base then please do so. &nbsp;You can lay the timber frame directly onto grass or gravel. &nbsp;Either way, the timber frame must be perfectly level. &nbsp;If not the cabin will sink and twist over time.<\/p>\n<p>OK, let\u2019s get started with your plan.<\/p>\n<h2>Saturday Morning<\/h2>\n<p>Unpack the log cabin&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.logcabinssouthwest.co.uk\/log-cabin-kits\">kit<\/a>&nbsp;and sort all of the pieces into the necessary groups. &nbsp;If the cabin kit has delivered at the front of the house, and you want to build it in the back garden then move all of the parts into the back garden, keeping everything grouped together.<\/p>\n<h2>Saturday Afternoon<\/h2>\n<p>Start to build up the walls, section by section. Be mindful of where the windows and door will go. Leave the appropriate gap.
